"Get Into Gravel" is an entry level gravel experience for those people looking to give gravel riding a go to see what it's all about. It's for the new gravel rider with little or no gravel riding experience. Participants are expected to have some cycling experience and have a basic level of cycling competency, This event is not suitable for people who have no riding experience of any sort.
The day will start with some basic skills and bike set ups before heading out on a 30km ride starting and finishing at Brisbane Valley Roasters, Esk. The route has 230m of elevation so minimal climbing required. The route has been selected to give riders exposure to the BVRT as well as approximately 8km of gravel roads.
This event will be held on Sunday 16 February starting Brisbane Valley Roasters at 7am (coffee available from 6.30am). Riders will be required to be at Brisbane Valley Roasters by 7.00am with the ride to commence at 7.30am.
The riding will be done at an easy pace with Ride Leaders and a support vehicle but you will need to be able to ride the 30kms so will need a reasonable level of cycling fitness.
At the completion of the ride we will have coffee and morning tea at Brisbane Valley Roasters with the event expected to conclude at approx 11am.
You are welcome to bring your own bikes provided they are suitable for off road riding. E-bikes are welcome. We are offering hire bikes at a significant discount for this event with gravel bikes and MTB bikes available for just $40 and E-MTB for $70 but you will need to book one as numbers and sizes are limited.
Total cost for the day is as follows:
Own bike - $60
Hire gravel or MTB - $100
Hire E-MTB - $130

Suitable Bikes
For this event MTB and gravel bikes are both suitable along with E versions of both of these.
The event is NOT suitable for road or commuting style bikes. Gravel bike hire is available for an additional charge.
